Sondre Lerche concert

I love love LOVE Sondre Lerche! For those who doesn't know who Sondre Lerche is, he is a Norwegian guitarist/singer who does upbeat pop/rock/alternative music (I'm bad at categorizing artists into a single genre). He did the soundtrack for Dan in Real Life, and well, just listen to a couple of his songs to get an idea of his musical style (Hell No, Heartbeat Radio, Two Way Monologue, Let My Love Open the Door).

At any rate, the concert was simply AMAZING. Sondre Lerche had such stage presence! He was funny, relaxed, and at ease with the audience, always making jokes and interacting with the audience in between songs. Moreover, he was a really enthusiastic performer, strumming his guitar intensely in faster upbeat songs, crooning into the microphone for slower songs. He talked about how his first performance in Chicago was at that very location and about how the hair product that Jessi (his opening act) lent him wasn't doing it for him. When his acoustic guitar didn't broadcast over the speakers, he kept on playing other songs while the technical problems were worked out.

I feel like that was the ideal concert. One where the artists' songs don't sound note for note like their songs on the album, but better. Where they get to interact with you, and their personality takes their music to a new level. Where the venue is small enough that the artist can stay afterward to sign CDs and take photos.

I hope the photos are decent. It's quite difficult to get good pictures in such dim light settings when I don't have fancy lenses or gear. But I did what I could with ISO, aperture, and shutter speed and just hoped for the best. Standing within 10 feet of the performers helped too.

I'm the south Asian for the record. The east Asian is a friend I went with.
