Paris - Montmarte, People

People always talk about how rude and stuck-up the French are. How they hate foreigners who can't speak their language and how unhelpful they are to tourists. But I met some of the most kind and helpful people when I went to Paris! There were the various strangers who helped me with the large red suitcase I lugged around the metro, the couple who looked up the nearest metro station on their iPhone for me, the employees who had to deal with my broken beginner's French, and of course my CouchSurfing host who allowed me and my two friends to stay at his place for nearly a week, and even took us out on the weekend. Perhaps my experience was tinted differently because instead of being an overweight, obnoxious, and dreadfully tasteless American, I'm young, chic, urban (not to mention single and female), and at least try to speak French when dealing with natives. Who knows? All I can say is that from my own personal experiences, the French aren't all that bad!
